About Lightning Bug Media
Our Story
Lightning Bug Media is a family-owned production company dedicated to bringing your visual goals to life. We offer a broad spectrum of film production and product photography tailored to meet the needs of businesses, branded content, e-commerce products, social media content, commercial aerial cinematography, and short or long-form video series. Our favorite thing to do is to help other small family businesses and entrepreneurs make their dream business a reality. We understand the heart and effort poured into what you do, and we will be your biggest cheerleader, giving your business or products an image boost!
Headed by Joanna Whitmarsh MacDonnell and John Richard MacDonnell, they each worked for over 15 years in the entertainment industry on reality TV shows, documentaries, commercials, game shows, and user-generated content-based projects before branching out to start Lightning Bug Media Co. in 2020. We wanted to create something of our very own and also help lift others, something we rarely felt able to do before. We strive to hone in on the best message and light possible - showcasing the heart of companies, their people, and the uniqueness of products in motion and still imagery.
